A beautiful mountain city surrounded by nature and healing Onsen
Short trip from Kyoto to Gero

I recommend this course!

Anthony Biondolillo / I'm from Pensacola, Fl. The U.S.A. / I have lived in Japan for 15 years.

Profile

I first came to Japan during high school 1996 and spent two years in Okinawa. In university I studied for a semester in Osaka. After graduating, in 2004, I started my position as the Coordinator for International Relations for the city of Gero. I feel very lucky to have experienced many different parts of Japan.

Gero is a beautiful mountain city with a rich history. Around 90% of the area is forests. There are hiking paths all over the city. Spread out in the mountains are five areas each with its own unique attractions. The town of Osaka has Gandate Park and around 200 waterfalls to explore. Maze village was voted one of the most beautiful villages in Japan. It is also famous for its fishing and open-air museum. Kanayama town has megaliths that were made thousands of years ago as a calendar that still works. Of course Gero is best known for its Onsen (hot springs). So after long days of exploring the city, you can always relax in one of the many Onsen.
