Take a journey to Nara’s ancient world heritage temples, even more profound than Kyoto’s Offerings
Short trip from Kyoto to Nara

I recommend this course!

Li Mi Linh / I'm from Taiwan / I have lived in Japan for 8 years.

Profile

Originally I was an advertisement creator, but eight years ago I got married to a Japanese person and moved to Nara. Since then, I’ve worked at the Taiwanese trade office (consulate) in Osaka, published a novel under a pen name, Tomiya Nara. I covered over 100 businesses, including restaurants, hotels, traditional inns, department stores, museums, railroad companies and more. Currently I work with tourism promotion with Nara City. We’d like to welcome overseas visitors to the ancient capital of Nara to experience Nara’s unique charm.

In ancient times, Nara was the main city for Japan’s political economy, as envoys were dispatched to China during the Sui and T’ang dynasties. These envoys transmitted Buddhist teachings, which came to meld with Japanese Shintoism. Nara is not merely an important place for Buddhism; it is the starting point for Japan’s history and religious convictions. As history has gone by, the city’s accumulated cultural assets have been guarded by the people of Nara for over a millennium. Even with the passing of generations, nothing has supplanted the status of Nara’s historical remains and its treasures of humanity. All of the sightseeing destinations in Nara have a historical tale behind them and are endowed with a peaceful serenity that contains a profound appeal. We hope that through your journey to these World Heritage Sites and ancient temples, something will resound in your heart.
